What’s Going On In Alyssa’s World

Recently, I have been extremely busy with school. Homework, homework, homework. It has no end! However, aviation will never be fully neglected due to my school work! This past month I applied for two more scholarships for flight training, and I’m in the process of applying for one more. I also joined an aviation explorers group and soon, I’m going to be going to a meeting at the New England Air Museum. I can’t wait! I would really, really, really, like to start my flight training this summer. I know it’s not possible for me to start this school year, as I’m very busy with my academics and extracurriculars; but right now – my whole summer schedule is free! Although I’ve been on several Young Eagles flights, when it comes to flying – I don’t really have too much of a clue what I’m doing. I’ll be the first to admit that! But besides flight training, I have so much else I am thinking of doing! (1) Joining the Civil Air Patrol to start flying and go on search and rescue missions. The CAP interests me immensely. (2) I would really like to attend Women Soar again this summer. The program has changed a lot I’ve heard, and last year when I saw the 787 there I wished I was there so bad!! I need to save my money though! (3) But then, I would also like to take an AutoCAD class this summer as I am highly interested in engineering but my school doesn’t offer anything like that. There is a possibility that I can take an AutoCAD class at a local community college through my high school however, that wouldn’t be until Junior or Senior year. (4) I am looking to do an internship or just volunteer at a local airport. I just want to become more involved in an airport, and make that the one where I do my flight training. I just love airports so volunteering at one would be awesome! (5) I want to join an EAA Chapter. The EAA Chapter that I’m associated with is way far away from my house. I want to join a closer one and become more involved! (6) I also want to get a job! I’m too young right now, but it would really help me to get a summer job to pay for flight training! I do graphic design on the side sometimes if my school work allows for it. I really enjoy making logos, brochures, t-shirts, videos; anything basicially. And finally, (7) I am half and half about getting my drivers license. I don’t actually want to drive nor do I want a car. The only reason why I would consider getting my license is to get from point A to point B (one of those points being an airport.) As you can see, I have a lot on my plate. If it weren’t for all this homework I could be doing more with my life. Midterms were this week and they were not fun. I did not enjoy them. Don’t get me wrong, I absouletely love school, and I’m a nerdy book worm. However, I think I enjoy aviation just a bit more.
